Summer Jam 2010 Jamskating "Potato Skate" Battle Circle

Back during Summer Jam 2009 hosted by JustSkates.com my wife and I created "The Potato Jam" - a battle circle where regular skates (potato skates) were required to compete. We wanted to see what made the skater...pure talent or did the products they skated in affect their performance? At any rate, we figured it would be good for a few laughs! JustSkates offered a $250 cash price to the winner!

Two things were instantly decided:

These kids are damn talented! There's no doubt that great products help them complete their sets - the skates make the skater, the skater makes the style.
We definitely have to continue to host potato jams! Hilarious AND entertaining!

The skaters hackled each other very little over products Riedell vs. Vanilla. Mainly the arguments come down to what is true jam skating - toe work vs. power. Personally, the kids impressed me across the board! I don't care if you holding a stall, rexing, or pulling off a windmill - jammin out in old school session skates is an accomplishment! Skaters included Tony Zane, Diamond Walker, Brandon Perea, & Lonna Kissling from Team Vanilla, Oscar Maldonado, Quinton Thomas, and Leo Romney to name a few. Over 25 skates laced up in busted ol' session skates - so who won the $$$?
